3. SSSC CPL+ participant
This badge is awarded to people who are successfully enrolled in the SSSC CPL+ programme. This allows them to earn Open Badge recognition for any learning they undertake
Are you an SSSC registrant or a childminder whose service is registered with the Care Inspectorate? The SSSC CPL+ programme is your chance to earn Open Badges for almost anything you choose to learn about. Each month, you can select a topic that interests you and gather information from any sources you prefer. These badges are designed to recognise your dedication to Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) while developing your reflective learning skills as you go.
This is a bit different to our other badges, where we set specific learning resources and activities for you, so we put together this badge to give you everything you need to get started.
Please work through the criteria items below to achieve this badge.
To achieve this badge you must:
- watch the introductory presentation and download a copy of the slides for future reference (17 minutes)
- put your SSSC registration number and name of your employer at the top of your evidence submission or your Care Inspectorate service number if you are a childminder (Required)
- explain in your own words why you have decided to take part in the CPL+ programme (50 words minimum)
- identify three subject areas you intend to cover in your first CPL+ challenge badges and for each of these write about (a) why you have chosen the subject, (b) what your strengths and weaknesses are in respect of it (150 words minimum)
- discuss your participation in the CPL+ programme with your line manager, clearly state the date and time of this discussion in your evidence (Required).
Your application will be returned to you with a request for further evidence if it does not meet all the above criteria.
You must successfully achieve the Writing evidence for Open Badges badge before applying for this one.
You must also be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council and in employment or be a childminder registered with the Care Inspectorate at the time of your application.
You will need to submit a written statement, of at least 200 words in response to the questions asked in the criteria. You can write your statement directly on the badge application form or paste a link to your own blog or portfolio.
We will also accept an audio or video submission if you prefer.
The evidence you submit will be viewable by anyone who you show your badge to. Do not include confidential or private information within your submission.
Read Preparing and publishing your evidence to find out more about what’s required and increase your chances of getting your badge approved first time.

I confirm that I have already achieved the Writing evidence for Open Badges badge. I have read, understood and completed all the activities listed in the badge criteria and each question from the criteria is answered in the evidence I have provided. My evidence has been written or recorded by me and I have not copied it from anywhere else or used an AI tool to produce it. I understand that it will take 28 days for you to assess my application and that feedback cannot always be provided if my application is unsuccessful.
Your evidence, name, and email address will be sent to the organisation who issue this badge
