Principles of care: Personalisation and enablement
This badge will help you to show what you have learned from the Personalisation, enablement, outcomes and self-directed support chapter of the Principles of Care ebook in the Foundations for Practice series. It is one of five badges required to gain the Principles of Care milestone open badge.
In the past 20 years, there has been a significant shift in approach to the way that care is planned and delivered and it is important that you know about this to ensure good outcomes for people who you care for and support. This badge will help you to provide evidence that you know, understand and can apply the principles of personalisation, enablement, outcomes focused approaches and self-directed support that are at the core of best practice. You will need to read the Personalisation, enablement, outcomes and self-directed support chapter of the Principles of Care ebook before you can apply for this badge.
To get this badge you must:
- watch the videos in the Personalisation, enablement, outcomes and self-directed support chapter of the ebook and make a note of the key points of both videos. Include what you have written in this note as evidence for your badge
- think about your role and how you support and care for people
- using the information in this chapter, write a short reflective account of a minimum of 150 words to explain why personalisation, outcomes, enablement and self-directed support are important in meeting their needs
- write a short reflective account of a minimum of 100 words to explain how you will use the knowledge you gained from this chapter in your practice in future.
We will return applications that do not provide enough evidence showing how you have met these criteria.
You must achieve the Writing evidence for Open Badge applications badge before you apply for this one.
You will need to submit written statements in response to the questions asked in the criteria.
You can write your statements directly on the badge application form or paste a link to your own blog or portfolio. You also need to attach your note for the activity detailed in chapter three of the ebook. We will also accept short audio or video statements if you prefer these formats.
Remember, anyone who you show your badge to can view the evidence you provide. Please don’t include confidential or private information in your statements.
