AC/AHSCP Preparing for an Assessment 2022
This badge equips learners with the knowledge and understanding to prepare for undertaking a range of assessments that are relevant to their job role and service area.
This badge is one part of the Undertaking Assessments Milestone badge and will help a NQSW evidence their progression towards the following standards:
Standard 1 – Developing confidence and competence in the process of assessment using critical thinking skills and analysis to inform professional judgement and decision making.
Standard 2 – Collaborate effectively with service users and others to plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
Standard 3 – Positively promoting the wellbeing, support and protection of children and adults at risk of harm.
Standard 4 -Developing competence and confidence in the professional Social Work role and in managing complexity in professional decision making, drawing on research, evidence and best practice.
Standard 5 – Demonstrating the habits of a practitioner-researcher through routine continuous learning and enquiry with which to encourage and support the learning of self and others.

Undertake or update a chronology in one of your cases
Review preparing for assessment – ADULT SERVICES or preparing for assessment – CHILDREN’S SERVICES, relating this to a specific service user that you are working with
Familiarise yourself with National Risk Assessment Framework (children’s services)
Attend any relevant service specific training
Children’s services only:

Record discussion (supervision, mentor meeting) that evidences your knowledge and understanding of different types of assessments, documentation and National frameworks (if applicable)
Upload feedback from your manager/mentor on a chronology you completed/ updated and reflect on its usefulness as a tool
Identify strengths or gaps in your knowledge Adult or Child protection
that will need to be addressed to help you effectively undertake assessments and discuss these with your manager/ mentor. Upload a record of the discussion and any agreed actions
