Oral Health Mentoring Participation Open Badge
This Open badge is awarded to professional's who work or volunteer with homeless organisations and want to promote the importance of looking after your mouth. The Oral Health and Mentoring Participation Open Badge will be awarded after you have attended the online training and can upload your certificate as evidence of your learning. You need to first book on the training, please register your interest by e-mail at: [email protected] The training is delivered online through Microsoft TEAMs
NHS Education for Scotland’s vision is to lead through sustainable educational solutions and working collaboratively with key partners to reduce inequalities and improve oral health for priority groups.
During the training the learner will explore factors that can affect general and oral health and develop their skills in communication, mentoring and reflection to enable them to effectively deliver oral health interventions with their service users when appropriate.
To earn this badge, you will need to:
Attend the online face to face Oral Health Mentoring training sessions.
Undertake the learning.
Upload attendance certificate to SSSC Open Badge site
This badge is open to anyone regardless of whether you are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council.
While there is no prerequisite for this Open Badge, we strongly recommend that you first apply for the ‘Getting Started’ and Writing Evidence’ Open Badges
After attending the training you will be able to:
- Describe factors that commonly affect the oral health of individuals.
- Identify the current oral health improvement messages and the available local support structures.
- Demonstrate effective mentoring skills with individuals and/or groups on how to improve their oral health
Your evidence for the participation open badge will be your attendance certificate
Never include confidential or private information within your evidence. The evidence you submit will be assessed and presented to everyone who you show your badge to. As well as showing that you have achieved the badge, you can also choose to share this assessment and feedback with your manager or team leader.
