Knowing Me and Knowing You
This badge is available to care home workers to celebrate the learning that takes place every day.
The purpose of this Open Badge is to celebrate all the learning that you are doing each day, and to recognise this learning through the Badge. We would like the collecting of the evidence to be something that you find enjoyable, and useful rather than a stress or burden.
If you would like to work towards getting a Badge but are unsure about meeting the criteria below please feel free to contact Edel Roddy.
To be awarded this Open Badge, you need to either:
- Write a minimum of 200 words about the activity and your learning
OR
- Record yourself talking about the activity and your learning for at least 2 minutes.
You can also include poems, collages, creative creations in your evidence.
Once you have finished writing or recording yourself about the activity, this can then be uploaded to the Kinections Open Badge on the SSSC Open Badges website.
There are no pre-requisites for this badge.
When we (Kinections team) look at your record about ‘Knowing Me and Knowing You’ and what you have learned, we would like to see evidence of 2 of the following:
- your learning about helping someone to share about themselves, or their family member/friend
- your learning about yourself or others, and how you have/will use this learning in the future
- your learning about what helped you to give something a go, try doing things differently, take a risk
- your learning about what helped you to get others on board or to share what you learned with others
- your learning about what helps residents to have a sense of belonging, achievement, purpose, safety, significance, continuity
Suggestions for what you might include in your record:

A brief description to introduce the reader to the story on which your learning is based.
The Sweetest Thing
What aspects of what happened in your story were you most excited/energised/hopeful about?
Reflecting on these aspects, what hints does this give you about what gets you excited/energised/hopeful at work?
Bridge over Troubled Waters
If there were aspects in the story that were tricky for you, what did you learn from these tricky parts?
For the points below, the focus is on your learning from reflecting on what happened, rather than more details about the story itself
Knowing Me and Knowing You
