1. Information through Life (Usher Institute)
This badge covers introductory issues about developing and understanding different ways of thinking about information and how it is becoming increasingly important as a tool for care in various settings.
The difference between learnt information, evidence based information and value-based information is considered in the following ways:
- How individuals generate information from birth to death and why this is important.
- How information is individually acquired, processed, stored and disseminated.
- How information generated can shift emphasis from illness to health (including, for example, the Internet of Things).
- The difference between personally generated information, including social media presence and system recorded information such as in ‘official’ records (electronic health/social care record).
You should provide a reflective account covering the following (minimum 500 words):
- Having read the various definitions what are your views on the different ways in which information is generated? What cross overs have you seen in your own working context?
- Identify three key considerations when acquiring, processing, storing and disseminating information.
- Give one example of the approach you will now make in the use of information to change processes of health and care in your working context.
None. You do not need to hold any other badges to be able to apply for this one.
You should provide a reflective account (in one of: text, video or audio) of a minimum of 500 words addressing the criteria above
