5. Horizon Scanning with Information (Usher Institute)
This badge addresses the skills required to develop your knowledge and understanding about how ‘data analytics’ can help in the provision of health and social care.
This badge covers introductory issues developing and understanding of:
- Using information predictions in health and social care settings.
- Managing the Infodemic (WHO, 2020).
- Managing the increase in personal choice in health and social care.
- Advancing care through information to include genomics, personalised medicine, robotics and nanotechnologies.
You should provide a written account covering the following:
- The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) may help standardise many aspects of health and care, optimise processes, and allow greater use of data to inform best practice and outcomes. Give one example how such advancements could help improve your specific working practice.
- The need to ensure the right information is used for the right purpose is a vital component across health and social care. Reflect on your experiences of client/patient concerns raised based on information they found on the internet. Based on your own setting, discuss 3 ways in which you could guide the individual to avoid misinformation based on your knowledge of accurate sources (e.g. WHO guidelines) and the dilemma posed by outsourced information.
- There has been great progress towards person centred care as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic and the general view of health and care is slowly moving towards one of individual responsibility. What does a personalised approach to care look like from your perspective and what can you do to deliver it based on your practice?
None. You do not need to hold any other badges to be able to apply for this one.
You should provide a reflective account (in one of: text, video or audio) of a minimum of 500 words addressing the criteria above.
