Childminding: Children’s participation
This badge demonstrates commitment to involving children in the planning of a childminding service.
Involving children in the planning process can be done in many different ways, but is essential in providing a service which meets their needs.
To earn this badge you will need to:
- write a short description of a time when you have consulted with the children
- show how their involvement in the process directly influenced changes to your service.
There are no prerequisites for this badge. However, you may find the following reading useful:
Your reflective report should outline how you consulted with the children. This can be formal or informal consultations eg you may have observed the children playing and noted down some issues or discussed something over lunch time. These are valid ways of consulting with children and it doesn’t have to be a questionnaire. What is important is what you do with the information and how it has changed or enhanced your practice.
Remember, the evidence you provide will be viewable by anyone you show your badge to. Please don’t include confidential or private information within your evidence.
