SCMA Childminders: Working with ADHD and the Autism Spectrum
This badge is awarded to Childminders who can demonstrate knowledge of this topic and associated behaviours that aid them to work in partnership with parents to provide the best possible care and support for their children.
This Open Badge will be awarded to Childminders who can demonstrate that they can Identify key characteristics of ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and discuss appropriate responses to symptoms and behaviours in a professional childminding setting.
This Open Badge will show that Childminders have received support on how:
• To examine and explain the concepts of ADHD and ASD
• To define the diagnostic process
• To identify some of the key symptoms or characteristics of ADHD and ASD
• To discuss appropriate behaviour management responses for childminders
To earn this badge, you will need to:
- Have completed the SCMA Working with ADHD and the Autism Spectrum CPL workshop or completed the SCMA Working with ADHD and the Autism Spectrum eLearning programme

- Tell us what are and how you would identify key symptoms or characteristics of ADHD and ASD and what your responsibilities as a childminder are in relation to this?
