Child Protection in a Childminding Setting; Enhanced
This Open Badge is awarded to childminders who demonstrate an understanding of the duties, roles and responsibilities they have in relation to child protection. What paperwork is appropriate to use and the importance of good record keeping. Childminders are required to have an awareness of current legislation concerning child protection at national and local level and be working within these guidelines.
All children have the right to protection. They have the right to be safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, respected, responsible and included. They have the right to receive adequate care and to grow up in a protective environment which meets the Health and Social Care Standards. The Childminders; Child Protection in a Childminding Setting: Enhanced Open Badge is awarded to childminders who demonstrate an understanding of child protection procedures and practice within the early learning and childcare sector as well as a knowledge of the importance of good record keeping and how to support children who disclose.
To earn this badge you will need to:
Have completed the SCMA Child Protection in a Childminding Setting CPL workshop or completed the Child Protection in a Childminding Setting e-Learning programme
Tell us the following:
- What other types of abuse should you be aware of besides sexual, emotional, physical, neglect and faltering growth ?
- How does UNCRC link to child protection?
- How would you use the National Practice Model, the My World Triangle and the Resilience Matrix?
- Tell us about something you learned from Child Protection in a Childminding Setting: Enhanced that has helped you to improve your practice.
You must have completed the SCMA Child Protection in a Childminding Setting: Enhanced CPL workshop or completed the Child Protection in a Childminding Setting: Enhanced e-Learning programme.
Provide a statement, of around 200 words, telling us why you meet the criteria for this badge. Read the criteria carefully before submitting your statement, as your application may be declined if you don’t cover all of it within your evidence.
