AC/AHSCP Child Protection 2021
This badge will help the learner positively promote the wellbeing, support and protection of children.
This badge is one part of the Protecting People Milestone badge and will help a NQSW evidence their progression towards the following standards:
Standard 1 – Developing confidence and competence in the process of assessment using critical thinking skills and analysis to inform professional judgement and decision making.
Standard 2 – Collaborate effectively with service users and others to plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
Standard 3 – Positively promoting the wellbeing, support and protection of children and adults at risk of harm.
Standard 4 -Developing competence and confidence in the professional Social Work role and in managing complexity in professional decision making, drawing on research, evidence and best practice.
Standard 5 – Demonstrating the habits of a practitioner-researcher through routine continuous learning and enquiry with which to encourage and support the learning of self and others.
Standard 6 – Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the wellbeing of self and others.

Read Continuum of Need document (Intranet)
Read a variety of SCR’s published by Angus Council and bordering councils.
Access self-identified Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) online resources
Read operational instruction and guidance in relation to Children who present risk of serious harm to others.
Read Operational Instruction in relation to Child Protection Investigation.
Read Angus Child Protection Committee (CPC) Inter-agency guidance on Child Protection (see Angus Council Website)
Attend multi-agency assessment and decision making course (bookable through Resource Link) Or complete the requirements to evidence competency within Meeting Children’s Needs – Assessment and Decision-Making

Attend/shadow at least two core group meetings

Provide evidence of reflective discussion with team manager or mentor about content of child protection case conference. This must include reflections on thresholds of risk.
Provide a reflective account of your thoughts regarding the learning from SCR’s locally.
Provide a reflective account (500 words indicative) or discussion record of the learning you have gained from using CSE online resources and relevance to practice.
Discuss or provide a reflective account of an occasion where you had identified child protection risks and how you took this forward.
