Achieving this badge will help learners to review and develop understanding of: • The Adult Support and Protection Act 2007 and the legal responsibilities of key agencies. • Your role and responsibilities in relation to the support and protection of adults. • What is harmful to adults and how adults in need of support and protection can be identified. • How to respond to concerns about an adult at risk of harm. • What facilitates good interagency working with adults, their carers and their families.

Standard 1 – Developing confidence and competence in the process of assessment using critical thinking skills and analysis to inform professional judgement and decision making.

Standard 3 – Positively promoting the wellbeing, support and protection of children and adults at risk of harm.

To achieve this badge you will need to:
- Attend at least one adult protection case conference
- Attend Roles and Responsibilities training (bookable through ResourceLink)
- Attend Information Sharing for Adult Protection training (bookable through ResourceLink)
- Read Adult Support and Protection Operational Instruction (local authority intranet)
- Familiarize self with committee induction process – AAPC Induction Process
- Familiarize self with Initial Case Review (ICR) and Serious Case Review (SCR) process – AAPC ICRSCR Guidance
For Adult Services workers only in addition:
- Shadow an adult protection investigation
- Attend a Core Group Meeting

To successfully complete the badge learners must evidence their understanding of the key issues and demonstrate their application in practice by completing the activities listed below:
- Discussion with team manager or mentor evidencing understanding of the threshold of risk
- Discussion with any relevant person which includes reflection on case conference and core groups
- Discussion with a relevant person about the differences in criteria between adult and child protection
- Discussion with team manager or mentor evidencing a working knowledge of partnership areas, specialist services and an ability to signpost
