2. OSS Your digital footprint
This badge is awarded to people who demonstrate their understanding of the type and amount of information they share online and how this can impact on their personal and work lives as well as the organisations and the people who use their services.
A digital footprint is the mark you leave when you do something online. It’s the data you leave behind and it can be used to identify you. Many people don’t know how big a digital footprint they leave when doing things online.
You can earn this badge by demonstrating your understanding of the type and amount of information you share online and how this can impact on your personal and work life as well as on your organisation and people who use its services.
This is one of eight badges that contribute towards the Online safety and security badge.
To be awarded this badge, you must:
- download and complete the Your digital footprint handout
- tell us what you have learned about your ‘digital footprint’ (75 words minimum)
- tell us what you will change about your online activity because of what you learned (75 words minimum)
- based on your findings, what advice would you give to colleagues, people who use your service, family or friends? (50 words minimum)
Your application will be returned to you with a request for further evidence if it does not meet all the above criteria.
You must hold the Getting started with Open Badges and Writing evidence for Open Badge applications badges before applying for this one.
You will need to submit a written statement, of at least 200 words in response to the questions asked in the criteria. You can write your statement directly on the badge application form or paste a link to your own blog or portfolio.
We will also accept an audio or video submission if you prefer.
The evidence you submit will be viewable by anyone who you show your badge to. Do not include confidential or private information within your submission.
Read Preparing and publishing your evidence to find out more about what’s required and increase your chances of getting your badge approved first time.
